About This Spot

Great China quietly holds its own as a comforting neighborhood spot where familiar flavors and steady rhythms create an inviting refuge from the daily rush. Stepping inside, you’re met with a warm, bustling energy—not overly noisy but alive with the steady clatter of dishes, gentle laughter, and voices weaving conversations that feel as familiar as an old friend’s kitchen.

The atmosphere feels unpretentious and sincere, a place where the focus stays on simple pleasures. Here, the pace allows for a relaxed lunch break or a casual dinner without the fuss. The staff’s quiet attentiveness and easy smiles complement a mood that balances efficiency with a welcoming warmth.

The menu mirrors that same thoughtful approach, rooted in dishes that have settled comfortably into the local palate over time. From the rich, soothing wonton soup to plates of perfectly cooked chow fun and those nostalgic crispy noodles served just right, each bite carries a sense of tradition without pretense. There’s a satisfying heartiness to many offerings here—portions generous enough to share, meals that stay true to classic flavors, and touches of unexpected brightness, like the crispness in fresh broccoli or the tender sweetness inside BBQ pork buns.

Whether you’re seeking a reliably good takeout option or a spot to savor an unhurried meal, Great China feels like a quietly dependable choice. It’s the kind of place where familiar dishes become moments of comfort and where each visit can unfold with a small discovery—whether in the subtle heat of a carefully balanced spice or in the way the jasmine tea complements a meeting of flavors and friends.

I will give this restaurant a 4.5. The food was solid. Nothing fru fru or gourmet but good take out Chinese. My only complaint is when I order spicy dishes, I expect more than 1 chili pepper for two spicy dishes. So kind of benign on the spicy. I will request more chili next time.

I ordered the seafood clay pot. My food came out VERY hot (as it should be) and white rice. Both were exceptional, the dish had a superb variety of veggies. The portion was massive. I will return.

One of my go to places for lunch specials there prices and portions are great they even give soup on to go orders. I like the Mongolian beef with fried rice and the bbq pork and mixed vegetables with fried rice lunches and it comes with a crab puff. Pics to come

Great wonton soup. And the only place I know where you can get the old fashioned chow mein with the crunchy noodles, I don't mean pan fried, I mean those tan crunchy noodles you often see on salad bars, see photo attached. Years ago we use to get it at the China kitchen on Mendocino Ave. missed for years until I found this place.

Awesome experience and Awesome food! My wife and I are new to the area we are here for work wanted to order Chinese food and she was against it because he was afraid of what we would get I did a little research and found this place relatively close to where we are when I got there the staff and the customers were all in a great mood being very friendly and helpful one lady told me she had been coming there for 20 years and drives quite a ways out of her way because it's worth it I went ahead and ordered and she was right it was definitely worth it we will be coming here again and again this is our new Chinese food home I would highly recommend to anyone in the area to check it out the portions were great the food was excellent and the staff was very friendly it felt like we were back in Texas! still coming once a week and still loving it!

Chinese specialties like hot pot with outstanding spare ribs, pork, rice, the most delicious warm soup, Great China is our family’s favorite place to the fabulous Hot Pot dishes north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
